Thanks to bad weather and worse traffic, I didn’t make it to this weekend’s Rocket Dog adoption event. But I don’t want that to ruin Adoptable Monday, so Miss Pixie will stand it (sleep in?) as today’s spokesdog.

Pixie was found on the streets of Taiwan and brought to the US for a chance at a better life. There are a surprising number of Taiwanese street dogs like Pixie here in San Francisco, and it makes me a little warm & fuzzy to see how easily they adapt to life off the streets. Pixie clearly has no trouble relaxing.

It’s been a few weeks since I met Pixie, and I hope she’s found a home by now. But even if she has, another dog in need has already taken her place.

If you’re looking to add a new pet to your family, consider adoption first. If adoption isn’t right for you, there are other ways you can help dogs like Pixie. Contact your local shelter or rescue to learn more about volunteering and fostering. It doesn’t take much to make a big difference.

Gigi was left in the drop box of a shelter along with a her daughter and note. The note said she’s a good girl who’s been loved, to please find her a good home. The shelter where Gigi was left is overwhelmed by the number of dogs coming in and has a high rate of euthanasia.

Lucky for Gigi and her daughter, Rocket Dog stepped in. I met both at a recent adoption event and know it won’t take long for them to find a home.

When I met Sundae at Rocket Dog’s adoption event, she was fresh off a flight from Taiwan. She was curious about her new surroundings, but friendly and completely unfazed.

It always amazes me how resilient dogs are, and how easily they adapt to change. In Sundae’s case the change is all good; she’s gone from street dog to Rocket Dog – next stop is a home of her own.

Judge is one of 3 puppies I met at yesterday’s Rocket Dog adoption event. His pregnant momma was rescued from a rural shelter a few months ago, and volunteers have been taking care of her and the pups ever since.

It won’t take long for Judge and his litter mates to find homes, but I wanted to feature him because a lot of people think rescue = older dog. Not true! Rescues come in all ages, shapes and sizes – including puppies :)

Nala is one of Rocket Dog’s newest adoptables, recently brought to the US from Taiwan. Like a lot of dogs in Taiwan, Nala lived on the streets as a stray… and like a lot of Taiwanese dogs I’ve met, she’s as sweet and friendly as can be. And her eyes, those ears? We’re talking off the charts cute.

Miss Sara is 100% Bulldog love. Not sure if Pali and the folks at Rocket Dog had desserts in mind when they came up with the name ‘Sara Lee’, but the name fits. This girl is very sweet and pretty irresistible. (I think she might have a marshmallow filling).

But Sara Lee isn’t just fluff. Her foster human says she’s a typical Bulldog, with a mind of her own and a big personality to match. She’s currently in foster care, waiting for a human to call her own. For more information, visit www.rocketdogrescue.org.

UPDATE ON LAST WEEK’S ROCKET DOG
Kory has a home! I met her awesome new humans yesterday at Rocket Dog’s adoption event. There was talk of a new name… and a new doggie sweater. Congrats Kory + new humans! (And thanks to Kory’s dad for showing me how to use my new phone :)

You can’t really tell from today’s picture, but there’s something very unique about Miss Kory; she’s missing her right ear. Some people might see a missing ear as an imperfection, but I like to think of it as a ‘signature look’. A supercute signature look.

We don’t know for sure what happened to Kory’s missing ear, but it hasn’t affected her hearing and she doesn’t miss it one bit. Whoever gives this sweet, young girlie a home won’t miss it either.
